Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04), Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement in response to the Armed Services Committee’s passage of the FY 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

"National security in the decade ahead will be uniquely dependent on American Seapower. The NDAA provides a vision for this future and begins to make the investments required to bring this vision to fruition. By building additional destroyers and attack submarines, preventing the ill-advised retirements of cruisers and amphibious ships, and continuing investment in game-changing technologies like the UCLASS carrier-launched unmanned vehicle and a new anti-ship cruise missile, the NDAA lays the groundwork for this effort. This bill refuses to accept that American decline is inevitable and begins the difficult work of reversing the disastrous defense reductions of recent years.”
