Forbes Op-Ed: “Moses and the ‘Six Commandments’”
Posted by The Congressional Prayer Caucus | June 18, 2012

The following piece by Rep. Randy Forbes, Founder and Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, was featured in The Daily Caller today.

Moses and the ‘Six Commandments’
By Rep. Randy Forbes

President Ronald Reagan said, “I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.” Unfortunately, we now know what would have happened if Moses had run them by a federal judge in Virginia — they would have been whittled down to the “Six Commandments.”

At issue is a Giles County high school display of important historical documents, including the Ten Commandments, the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence. The ACLU filed a lawsuit challenging the inclusion of the Ten Commandments in the display. Judge Michael Urbanski, a Virginia federal district court judge, suggested they may be permissibly displayed if edited to omit commandments that reference God.

They are called the “Ten Commandments” for precisely the reason that there are ten directives, and they must be taken as a whole to remain in accordance with their original purpose and intent. Eliminating four would be like removing the preamble from the Declaration of Independence or the final paragraph from the Constitution because of references to God. The deletion of one word from any of these texts would distort the true nature of the documents and alter their intent.

Even worse, the suggestion demonstrates a dangerous trend in American society. There is a methodical campaign to remove faith not only from today’s public square, but from our memory of public squares past. I worry that efforts to indiscriminately erase symbols of faith from society will cause us to forget who we are as a nation. Take these examples.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation is demanding that a cross atop a memorial to veterans of World Wars I and II in Woonsocket, Rhode Island be removed from a fire department parking lot. The monument stood without controversy for over 90 years as a landmark honoring local men who never returned from war.

That same group is also demanding the removal of a memorial statue of Jesus erected on a Montana mountainside more than 50 years ago by Catholic soldiers returning from World War II. They built it in memory of the statues they saw throughout Europe to “perpetually remind themselves and others what it was that sustained them through the horrors of war.”

The American Atheists have filed a lawsuit to block the display of the Ground Zero Cross at the very site where it was discovered. This is not a cross created by a religious organization and placed at Ground Zero as a religious monument. It is a 20-foot steel cross beam that plummeted into the atrium of 6 World Trade Center on September 11th. Miraculously, it stood intact in the rubble in the form of a Latin cross. In the days, weeks and even years following the terrorist attacks, that cross offered comfort to families of victims and weary first responders. To remove the cross, a physical part of the history of that tragic day, would be an insult to the many who found solace in its presence.

Each of these monuments represents a piece of American history, whether it is the Ten Commandments that laid our law’s foundation, a memorial erected in memory of fallen countrymen or a spontaneous display of comfort and hope at our nation’s darkest hour. Faith is a part of our history, just as the freedom to live faith openly must be a part of our future.

A few years ago, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed the right of American school children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the words “under God.” Borrowing from the argument presented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, the court said that the words “under God” are a bountiful statement of American history and philosophy, and so they can and should be a part of our nation’s pledge.

As the Becket Fund stated in its brief to the court, “It is uncontestable that since even before the Declaration of Independence, it has been an important part of our national ethos that we have inalienable rights that the State cannot take away, because the source of those inalienable rights is an authority higher than the State.”

Many of America’s Founding Fathers were resolute in their faith, and such is evident in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and numerous other historical documents. However, the religious underpinnings of our nation also formed the bedrock principle on which our nation was founded — that our rights are given by God and for that very reason, government cannot take them away.

Eliminating faith from today’s public square puts that core American principle in jeopardy. Eliminating all traces of faith from our history makes the destruction of that principle all but inevitable. The judge’s proposal to re-write the Ten Commandments should make us think twice about how far the envelope has already been pushed.

Sir, Below is a copy of your introduction to the “Moses and the six commandments” story your office sent me via email. I have some questions for sir; What action have you taken to correct this? Your email provides nothing more than a complaint on your part. Are you using your power, or should I say are you acting on your duty to protect us from the judges politicians like yourself appoint to the bench? Please respond. William Birch Dear Friend, I wanted to share with you my recent column which was published in the Daily Caller. In Moses and the 'Six Commandments,' I discuss the importance of maintaining faith in the public square. As Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, I lead a bipartisan effort in Congress to protect religious liberty and recognize our nations’ rich, spiritual history. I want to know what you think about this issue. Weigh in on the Congressional Prayer Caucus blog. Yours in service, Randy

This country was founded in the name of God. To diminish that in any way is an insult to a person's intelligence. Someone needs to draw the line and say "enough is enough". The very basis of our freedom is being challenged every day from every direction. Today it is the minority voices that rule supreme. The ACLU seems bent on making civil liberties so loose that anything goes. They call things "Freedom of Speech" that would make Thomas Jefferson turn in his grave at warp speed. Human morals tend to slide downhill in every great country that existed. It was true of the Greeks, it was true of the Romans, and it is equally true today. We accept as common place those things that our parents and grandparents would be shamed to death to see and hear. Our children are exposed to filth and bad language on TV and in school. Parents are no longer allowed to punish their children. We are infringing on their rights, or worse yet, abusing them. As a result, the line that used to be drawn by parents, which kids recognized as being the line they crossed at a severe risk, no longer exists. There is no such thing as the six commandments. To try and alter the original ten commandments is an affront to any decent person, Christian or otherwise. It is time that the people speak up. Stand up for decency, honesty, and morality in this country. Our forefathers established this country UNDER GOD, and Under God it should remain.

I wish to applaud Rep. Randy Forbes for his continued fight for America's religious freedom and Christian heritage. He has led the way standing strong for our 1st Amendment rights to express our speech and faith even in the public square. As the Chaplain for the Chuck Norris enterprises and the person who discovered the LAUS DEO capstone inscription revision within the Washington Monument http://nationaltreasures.org/CR_MonOmi.html, I stand with millions across this country thanking God that Rep. Forbest is standing in the political gap for faith and us all.

I appreciate your concern for protecting religious freedom as my faith in God is more important to me than anything else. There are however situations where we may have to review some displays and such, in order to ensure we meet the Constitutional guidelines established by our forefathers. I do not think a cross or a statue or a creed or even the Ten Commandments denies anyone their religious liberty however, I honestly would not care to see some other religions displayed with equal prominence. So, while I flat out reject that others rights are being denied, I only caution that we fully consider that in the spirit of freedom and equality, we are obligated to render similar opportunities to others religions. (I am speaking as a Christian but all faiths could and should ask themselves the same question). So, in the case of the school displaying the Ten Commandments, would we be equally supportive of a section of the Koran similarly displayed? or the Torah? or ......? If not, we might be 'pushing' our side over the line. Unfortunately, under the current administration, where the President openly supports gay marriage, old terrorists, Black Panthers, and refuses to uphold the law regarding illegal immigrants, I think your efforts might better serve us if they were concentrated at the White House. I don't know if the House members have noticed this but Mr. Obama does not believe you all to be an co-equal branch of the government. One need only look to last Friday's new policy declaration regarding illegal immigrants to clearly see he is ignoring the Congress and legislating right around you - AND he has the audacity to announce it publicly. Does he think you won't respond? Will you? Please consider this grave injustice with higher precedence, as most of our problems, I believe, stem from this similar flaunting of the law. Additionally, Mr. Obama swore and oath to uphold the laws and Friday he announced he no longer will do that. That Mr. Forbes, is grounds for impeachment in my book. How will you respond? Steve

If all of this anti- religious activity and protesting against GOD in our country and lives were not so sad , it would be laughable. It challenges my limits of understanding how any person could , in good conscience support any of these objections, especially our courts. I do believe our president himself is conducting a war on the tenents of our faith and foundations of our country. To those who would wish to eliminate or fail to recognize a creator or supreme being as GOD or any of his many manifestations, I can only say that HE will be there for them in their hour of need. Keep up the good work !

Thank you Mr. Forbes for your attention on these matters. Thank you for standing strong and as you stand strong so will I in my voting for you. I pray that God will be with you in your long standing journey to keep God in all things of Virginia and the people involved as well. Deuteronomy 28 states much and it would do us all well to remind ourselves of God's ways!!

Erasing the visible existance of the invisible creator God denying the existance of the wind. There is no sensible reason to remove from the present what has always been in and a vital part of the past. To not have the faith oneself does not negate the validity of the faith of another. If eliminated from the present then the foundation of our nations establishment will not make sense to future generations. Our laws, our culture are so imbedded with the tenets of the ten commandments that to separate them is unconscionable. We are who we are like it or not. History does not need to be redacted it simply needs to be preserved. In America all are free to decide for themselves what their faith will be, faith in oneself or faith in a higher power. Some may not like it that the USA is a nation founded on Judao- Christian ethos but the facts are still there so let them alone. There are many other godless places to live so maybe a relocation rather than a redaction is in order.

  • David Ratliff commented on 6/18/2012
I really appreciate your stand. I am also very concerned about the way our nation is headed. We need the only true God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. This nation was founded by our forefathers on the Word of God and no one has the right to change or remove God from our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence or any other historical document.
  • Paul Wilson commented on 6/18/2012
The Founders recognized "Nature's God" and a "Creator" at the beginning of the Declaration of Independence and expressed "firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence" towards the end of it. These bookend type references show me that they intended the justification of our independence to be faith in one who superseded their oppressor and provided them blessings and rights he, the oppressor, was denying them. Those who do not believe in God are free to exercise that faith or express those views. Should they choose not to believe, though, this should not require that historical references to faith need to be sanitized from the public square or government properties. Going further, I believe that God continues to work in our nation. It is sad to me that many are ignoring his hand of protection. Nothwithstanding, no law can or should force others to believe the same. Neither should we prevent expressions of faith on governmental property be prohibited.
  • Clifton Heath commented on 6/18/2012
Prayer should be a part of our daily lives. The Constitution of these United States was created with the vision of "In God We Trust". We experienced less crime, enjoyed a spirit of community and safety with our neighbors and we were centered with personal independence and pride before we allowed a few atheist to remove the recognition of God from our public places and schools. I am now discriminated upon by Government rules that prohibit my right to recognize my holy savior in public places owned by my Government Let every religion flourish with freedom in a dignified way and remind the atheist that if they respect our deity we will respect their right to non believe. Restore prayer to public places and let the world know that In God We Trust.

some of these judges that swore an oath to protect and defend our Constitutioni should READ the thing..... its only a few hundred words. Maybe then they'd realise none of these "first ammendment" suits have any basis in law. That Ammendment states: "CONGRESS shall make no law establishing a religion, or preventing the free exercise thereof" Can anyont tell me whiich law the CONGRESS passed that put that ten commandments display where it is? The one these atheist characters are all fussed about? No? CONGRESS didn't make any law putting that display up there? No case. SUmmary dismissal with prejudice. Now, how about that thng the chaps put up on the mountainside when they returned from the fronts after the Second German War? Did CONGRESS make a law putting that there, or funding it, or designing it? No? Once more, no case. SUmmary dismissal. WHEN are these black-robed legislators going to wake up and realise they SWORE AN OATH to uphold the CONSTITUTION? Perhaps immediately they do, they ought to take out their copies of that document and READ them. they DO have copies of it, don't they?

I am in 100% agreement with Randy Forbes. I have taught Sunday School, now called Small Group for 40 years. Our nation was founded on Biblical principles and we are now in the position of seeing our founding father's attempts to keep us "Free" in every area trampled down by a miger few. The constitution of the United States of America and the Declaration Of Independence were set forth by men who saw first hand what a government run by tyranny can result in. We need to keep America true to the beliefs of our founding father's and stop letting liberal judges and bias media run this country. I was so disgusted as we just had our primary elections and when I went to vote where we have 1770 voters registered only 80 had voted by 3 in the afternoon. We need to take back our country for God and our founding father's, many who came here to have freedom to worship God, and we cannot do that with appathy. I will continue to cast my vote everytime for the man standing for our great country, not againest it.

The Judges proposal did one thing and one thing only-- This man is giving Giles County a PLEA BARGAIN before he justly judges the case. He is putting a Religious Test on the people of Giles County to see if these people will take a stand for the Name of Almighty God or not? Who is he to put our country under any sort or kind of Religious TEST? He is trying and testing the REINS of our hearts. Are we willing to lay the Ten Commandments on the ALTER for a sacrifice? Is it time for us to start reading and understanding about the BOOK OF JUDGES? Did this man have to take an OATH of office? Was he put under a religious TEST? Did he have to say, So HELP ME GOD? Well he did not have to say "so HELP ME GOD" if he did not want to--he had a choice. People who are being called to Jury Duty must take an oath to serve. People being called to jury duty lift up their hands and SWEAR or affirm an oath of ALLIGENCE to JUSTLY JUDGE a case--So HELP ME GOD. The person being TRIED lifts up his had and takes an OATH of ALLEGIENCE to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth--So HELP ME GOD. Witnesses have to take an oath of ALLIGENCE ending in So HELP ME GOD before they testify in any court of law. Every person has a choice to say So HELP ME GOD or not. The same goes for the TEN COMMANDMENTS. Every person has a choice to read the WORD GOD in the Ten Commandments or not. We all have a choice--if you don't want to see the NAME--don't look at it.Sice it can be SAID in court it can be READ on a monument--AMEN??

It is sad to see America giving up it's heritage all in an effort "not to offend" the Athiest person, who is a minority. I am offended by this behavior on our government's part in not protecting our heritage and the right of believers to honor their God. As a country we are failing. I believe we are failing because of our lack of commitment to follow the Ten Commandments and teach the children the importance of these Commandments and how living by them encourages a safe and harmonious community. Each individual has a responsibility to honor their country and their faith. Christians have got to do a better job of being Christian and sharing their faith and fighting for their faith. If we remove God from our counrty we will perish ---read the Bible ---God has told us that if we step away from him he can not and will not protect us anymore....911 and is a good example of this fact.

I think your argument, Mr. Forbes, is a bit off track. At issue is not whether we have a right to believe in God, or even not to, but rather the insistence by some on the right, unfortunately you included, that this is a Christian nation and that the public expression of Christian beliefs and symbols - to the exclusion of others - is permissible We DO have the right to believe in God, And we have the right to not believe in God. For that reason the efforts of certain denominations to force their beliefs, practices and symbols on the American public is unfortunate.

It's reflective of the assault on Christianity in the US these days. 6 commandments is a sad joke with no humor attached. Common sense has been replaced with the stupid political correctness of the day.
  • David Luethy commented on 6/19/2012
You have hit upon the key issue in this on-going debate. Faith in God and reliance upon His grace are not partisan religious tactics; it is the core of who we are as a nation. The fundamental principles of our nation's identity depend upon our recognition that there is One greater than ourselves, whose will supersedes our own. If we abandon that core, we will no longer be the "shining light on the hill" that we have been for individuals all over the world. Thank you for standing up for what is right, even when it may not be the most expedient or popular thing to do.
  • Michelle Winkler commented on 6/19/2012
Randy - I fear that Christians themselves are at fault in the demise of our countries heritage, because they themselves have shrunk back from maintaining God's Law, even though Messiah Himself said He came to fulfill the Law. The "mainstream" Christian embraces political correctness over God's call to obey His commands because it's easier to go with the crowd, even if they're wrong, than to follow the righteous path of their glorious Creator. The LORD has taken me on a journey through Leviticus and Deuteronomy, paying close attention to all the Law, not just the Ten Commandments. The majority of Christians today hang out in the New Testament, rejecting the Old Testament, claiming it to be insignificant. If our Savior's claim is that He came to fulfill the Law (Matthew 5:17), hadn't we better understand just what it is He is fulfilling? The law of this land is clearly based on God's Law, introduced to the Israelites when they went in to possess the land they were given eternally by their Creator. America was embraced with the same heart as the Israelites marching into Canaan. It was viewed as the "promised land" to those who were seeking a place where they could worship without constraint - and that worship wasn't the freedom to worship anything they decided to worship - but to worship the God of Creation. God's highest directive then and now is that we have no other gods before Him. The pursuit of happiness, the "American Dream", may be the culprit in all this. America has whored itself out for freedom's sake, and has instead become enslaved by it's sin. The TRUTH of the matter is that faith is trust in God, and not just any god, but the One and Only God of Creation. He is the Author of the Ten Commandments; He upholds those who embrace and uphold His Law. If ones "happiness" is not centered around the tender loving care of our Creator, God, happiness will elude us and the "American Dream" will simply be a myth. In Grace and Truth - michelle

Great article. The people who founded this country mostly came here searching for the right to worship God without persecution and because of that God has blessed our country more than any country in history. For a very small minority to try to impose their anti-God will on the majority is wrong and flies in the face of our religious heritage. We must continue to remember who we are and our Christian heritage which was the cornerstone of this country. I dare say that to remove God from our land will remove his blessing from us.

Dear Mr. Forbes, I want to applaud you for your article "Moses and the Six Commandment". It's a blessing to know that there is someone in office that knows that this country was founded on Biblical principles from God fearing men. I pray that this article would be sent to all of those that hold any kind of office in this country. To remind them that this nation belongs to God and it's people. Not to the ones that are self-serving in DC. I lift up all those in any kind of office each and every day, trusting that God will work and their hearts to acknowledge Him. The reason this nation is blessed is because God blessed it. It's time they woke up and starting seeking God instead of their own self interests. Thank you for not being afraid to stand up and acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!!!

I believe the judge's recommendation is a violation of the Constitution, specifically Americans' right to freedom of religion. The ACLU is violating our rights and the judge is party to that violation. The Chrisitan Church, the body of believers who are disciples of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, come in the flesh, are coming under increasing persecution by the U. S. government and by antichristians, like the ACLU. Fortunately, our God is greater than our government and greater than those that persecute us. May God bless them for they bring a curse upon themselves. Have mercy on them, Lord, for they know not what they do. God forbid that they should feel His wrath.
  • JILL WOHEAD commented on 6/19/2012
Dear Mr. Forbes, I first like to point out that the 10 Commandments existed before Moses. In Isaiah 14:12-23 It talks about Lucifer (Satan) who broke God's Governmental standard by bringing a rebellion against God. He is the originator and chief practitioner of sin. Being described as one who did not love the Lord, his creator, taking God's name in vain calling himself the most high, creating an idol which was himself, he dishonored God's santuary which is God's Presence and Holy existence, he is described as deciever, a thief and destroyer, a murderer and liar and one who coveted God's position. Thus the 10 Commandments are discribed. When did all this happen- in Eternity Past, before the creation of man. How do I know this. By the retelling the creation story in Genesis 2:8-9 The garden of Eden there was the tree of life in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Here God points out after that ugly rebellion of Saten the two choices: The First Tree represents Eternal life The Second Tree represents what seems good but brings death Genesis 3 God instructs Adam about the two choices of trees and commands Adam not to consume of the tree of good and evil lest you die. Low and behold Eve and Adam decide to make the wrong choice and use their judgement which seemed good to them and they fell from the grace of God. They are cast out of Eden like Satan was cast out of the Presence of God. God then deals with the Murderer Satan in verses 14-15 but also gives light to God's redemptive plan for man. We live in a fallen world and men decide what they think is good by their own knowledge and not listening to the Commands of God is certain death to them. In Isaiah 43:10-13 You are my witnesses, says the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me and understand that I AM HE (the servant): before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I am the Lord and beside me there is no savior. I have declared and have Saved and I have showed.......that I am God, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can steal out of my hand: I will work and WHO SHALL REVERSE IT! Ephesians 1:4 According as HE has chosen us in him BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE WORLD., that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Hebrews 4:3-5 For we which have believed do enter into rest (God's Presence), as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, they (the rebellious) shall not enter into my rest: although THE WORKS WERE FINISHED FROM THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE WORLD. For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day in this way, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, they (unbelivers) shall not enter into my rest. So, if the Athiests wish to follow only the six commandments in their own life that is their choice, But this Country was established on God's Governmental Standard which no one, not even Satan can change. One who thinks they can is a fool. And God laughs last. Psalm 2:4 He that sits in the heaven shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Proverbs 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes.

I would love to see a national discussion on this issue. Our founding fathers had it right. The church would not interfere with the government, and the government would not interfere with the church. Our fathers were all for the ten commandments, Bible reading, and prayer...in public and private. They saw the strength of America was in it's religious heritage. Should it now be purged from public expression in hope of a better America? Evidently not...look at Europe. The church is practically underground there. There is very little prayer and religious freedom. The history of America has been the accomodation of religious faith, without secterian endorsement. The worst thing government could ever do is supress religious speech and prayer. It's precisely what is keeping us strong and free.

I read with great interest the Moses and the 6 Commandments piece by Congressman Forbes. There are groups in this country that have denied the presence, power and the peace of God. They try to deny His existence in our lives and in the historical fiber of this country. Believers in our heritage must stand up now and be proactive about their faith in their God and their country. We can no longer afford to say about these derogatory issues that "it's a shame" other Americans purport the actions of removing historical landmarks that mean much to the integrity of Americans and their families that have made ultimate sacrifices for our freedom. We must return prayer in schools, we must teach our young people to have a reverential awe of our Father God and break the stronghold of indifference. We will prevail despite the rantings of a few people who make most of the noise. God bless our nation!

We must pray for all to repent and then we will be empowered to ask God to show us the way to restore our nation as "One Nation Under God". We must stand together against the HHS mandate affecting the Catholic Church. This is a violation of the 1st amendment. Thank you, Randy. We must work to put God back to His rightful place so He will once again bless our nation. This will not happen as long as the immorality and removal of God continues.

Thank you for helping with this battle. Keep up the good fight! It is time we begin calling atheism a religion and expect our judges and courts to recognize that atheists are forcing their religious views on others. They do not allow the freedom and tolerance our Constitution demands. The pendulum has swung too far left. And, then there are the useful idiots. They think that they are taking a higher road of morality in the name of "inclusion" and are hyjacking civic groups and other organizations, forcing generic prayers and secularism down our throats. They are clueless to the Marxist theories that hope to bring down Western civilization by destroying our culture and religion. If anything good comes from these destructive forces at work today, it is the renaissance of Christianity and the returning of people to their faith after years of absence.

Now Revelations gives the people with understanding instructions on how to win this WAR OF SPIRITUAL OPPRESSION which these Atheists are waging. It says in Revelations 13:18 Here is WISDOM. Let him that hath understanding COUNT THE NUMBER of the beast. So lets count the OFENCES Congress! Count ONE--Count TWO--Count THREE--Count FOUR--Count Five--Count Six. GULITY AS CHARGED. Now how many people are on a GRAND JURY? Is it 24? I am SURE that we can prove many events took place concerning our SPIRITUAL OPPRESSION. There is more than ONE type of WAR isn't there? Are they all punishable by LAW? Are there certain sorts or kinds of WARS. This is WAR Congress! And this WAR is waged against Christianity. The Leader of this CONSPIERCY to remove any replica of Religion off of public property has no standing. Lets look at Article 56 concerning WAR ON LAND. Aren"t these Atheist Organizations waging a WAR OF OPPRESSION? The property of the communes, that of religious, charitable, and educational institutions, and those of arts and science, even when State property, shall be treated as PRIVATE property. All seizure of, and destruction, or intentional damage done to such institutions, to historical monuments, works of art or science, is prohibited, and should be made the subject of proceedings. Maybe we ought to check this out!

I see a very large article this morning on the FFRF's WEB---SITE. I think you all ought to take time to read their gathering an army of people for their WAR ON LAND--OR ATTACKS ON ACCOUNT OF RELIGION. Their article is definately attacking the Catholic Church; the Catholic Religion; the Catholic Beliefs; and the Catholic BISHOPS. Read their plan people. These oppressors are trying to lead the WAY in their WAR ON LAND. Trligion is not mixed up within our governing system. These Belligerent people started the War on account of Religion. They wanted prayer removed. Are prayers said for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? NO! They want crosses moved off of public property that has been there for 100 yrs. Where those crosses erected on public property for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? No! They want the Cross at Ground Zero removed that nobody created, formed or made but GOD. They want the Ten Commandments removed off of public property and out of schools. Was Judge Moores Ten Commandment Monument put on the Court House property for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? NO! They want the Jesus Monument removed. Was that placed there for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? They want the Nativity Sceens removed from out of their sights. Are those placed there for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? They want our National Motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST" immediately removed from their sight. Was this motto made for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES? Now what does BELLIGERENT MEAN? (1) inclined or eager to fight; hostile, aggressive--does this describe an establishment of religion; (2) Of, pertaining to, OR ENGAGED IN WARFARE. Does this describe an establishment of Religion? NO it completely describes this 501 c 3 TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATION. Now look at their statement of who they are. Go to their article called OUR FREEDOM FIRST. They say, "We are atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, HERETICS, and nobelievers--WE ARE THE NONES. We are Americans. We are proud to be both. We recognize that liberty is NOT a gift bestowed by the supernatural, but a right that our forefathers secured for us with so much "toil and blood and treasure" It is OUR DUTY as citizens to "take alarm at the FIRST EXPERIMENT on our liberties. The Catholic Church and its conference of Bishops do not seek only TO EXPERIMENT on our liberties, they seek to redefine liberty out of existence. Now read THE RISE OF THE NONES that they so proudly display on their WEB---SITE. Their statement is this---"If ever there was a time for the Nones to flex our collective muscle it is now. The pope sees a need for “an engaged, articulate and well-formed Catholic laity endowed with a strong critical sense vis-à-vis the dominant culture and with the courage to counter a reductive secularism which would delegitimize the Church’s participation in public debate about the issues which are determining the future of American society.” We Nones are a FORCE to be reckoned with — engaged, articulate, well-informed, and endowed with STRONG critical minds. The pope and his bishops fear those who use reason to evaluate religious claims. It isTIME for secularists TO RISE UP and bring our voice to bear against the Bishops’ attempt to subvert liberty of conscience. (IS THIS FOR BELLIGERENT PURPOSES--IS THIS A FORM OF WAR??) Internet action is not enough. It is time to step from the online shadows and into the light of ACTION. It is time to declare yourself openly, to SEEK OUT MEETING with elected officials, to STAND IN PROTEST outside your seat of government, to WRITE PUBLIC LETTERS to the editor, and to help FFRF COMBAT the Church’s multi-million dollar campaign to redefine religious liberty. Join us! We GATHERED 20,000 strong in our nation’s Capital this March. We Nones are the FASTEST GROWING RELIGIOUS INDENTIFICATION in this country. WOW Congress--NOW they are the FASTEST GROWING RELIGIOUS IDENTIFICATION in THIS COUNTRY. What are they NOW applying to be a TAX FREE EXEMPT 501 C3 religous organization? ABSOLUTELY!! It is time to RESIST the Catholic Church and act to protect true religious liberty. Stand DOWN the Bishops! Now Congress--the FACTS ARE HERE--When can we get an 18 count indictment? This is a BELLIGERENT ORGANIZATION made for BELLIGERENT PURPOSES. They do not want PEACE__THEY WANT WAR!! Lets get rid of these NONES because there are none righteous--no not one.

Satan has sent a great disillusion onour country, and we have fallen for it .We must turn back to GOD that created this country ,and us. Life was sweeter ,and better when we followed the "Ten Commandments"amd revered GOD.Now nation is rejecting the very GOD that cause it to be the nation it once was. Instead of getting greater ,and wiser we are weaker than every before ,because we reject our maker, builder, and substainer .I pray for us that GOD WILL HELP TO STAY STONG AND STAND!!!!!. WE have turner the other cheek to long. NOW it is time to give them the other cheek that we stand for these Godily principles we will not be moved.

Oh people you must GET EXCITED!!!! Gods WORD IS BEING FULFILLED!! Follow it right now as it is happening before you eyes. God IS USING FFRF's power to fulfill HIS WILL AND POWER make a Divine Providence. Read Revelations 9 and follow every verse after that very closely. Now listen--FFRF wants people to ABANDON THE CATHOLIC CHURCH--FFRF is like unto a BOTTOMLESS PIT. There is no end to what they will do to take the Name of God out of our government. Now read Revelations 9-11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the Bottomless Pit, whose name in the HE---BREW tongue is ABADDON, but in the Greek name Apollyon. This verse is fulfilled--One WOE is past--and BEHOLD, there comes TWO WOES more hereafter. I just love this book of prophecy! Now start reading people! This BIBLE is the Book OF LIFE! Now OBAMAS Health Plan wants us to abaddon our faith and except HIS HEALTH PLAN--The SECOND WOE-- is passed. Get out your BIBLES PEOPLE--follow every verse and watch what happens. GOD IS REAL! What is the third WOE going to be?

Thank you for letting many respond to the article of Athiests and six commandments. First, the Athiests are not a threat to the Children of God, they are a threat to themselves. I would like to remind my fellow Christians the story of Abraham and the destruction of Sodom and Gemorrah in Genesis18:16-33. Abraham intercedes by asking the Lord if he would destroy the righteous with the wicked if there are fifty righteous. God answers that if he finds fifty righteous within the city he will spare the place. Abraham questions again, if there be 45 righteous in the city, will He destroy the city. God responds that he would not destroy the city if there were 45 righteous within the city. Abraham continues to question God till he get down to ten righteous people in the city. God responds that he would not destroy the city if there were even ten within the city. Well, what did God do? He removed all the righteous outside of the city limits, then destroyed the wicked that were left WITHIN the city. A True believer's life is hid in Jesus who sits at the right hand of God in the heavenly place, which is outside of the limits. So, the unbelievers are at risk. God's plan is a saving plan. We must pray for those who don't realize that they have put themselves at risk. Some will listen and others won't.

I would like to add a statement to my last comment, which is a signer of the Declaration of Independence- John Whitherspoon: While we give praise to God, the supreme disposer of all events, for His interposition on our behalf, let us guard against the dangerous error of trusting in, or boasting of, an arm of flesh.......... If your case is Just, if your principles are Pure, and if your conduct is Prudent, you need not fear the multitude of opposing hosts.

Congressman Forbes, Thank you for your continuing and steadfast support of God in our nation. Thank you for being a man of principle. Thank you for not slacking in upholding the very principles that has made the United States powerful and recognized throughout the world, and thank you for striving to keep God in our public square. Our nation was founded as "one nation under God" and taking that out of our public square, our schools and in other areas of our lives, has caused our country to weaken, has helped cause the collapse of families, and has helped cause an increase in crime and a lack of respect for our fellow man among many people and our different generations. As Christians, why have we become complacent by allowing others to infringe on our right for religious freedom? If you don't believe in Christianity and don't want to listen and don't want to participate, then turn away; however, the backbone of our country was based on religious history, and whether others like it or not, God was a very important component of our nation when it was new. We Christians should not be afraid to offend the Athiest or other non-believers. We should not be afraid to speak up about our faith and we should not be afraid to pray in public. Thank you for being the Prayer Caucus Chairman!
