Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) has been awarded the Conservative Award for 2012 by the American Conservative Union (ACU), in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the values that this nation was founded upon. This award is given to those Members of Congress whose voting record represents a defense of our founding principles – constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, free markets, a strong national defense and traditional values.
“Future generations of Americans will hold us accountable for how we respond to the defining challenges of our times,” said Congressman Forbes. “This includes curtailing current uncontrolled government spending, keeping our nation secure, and safeguarding religious freedom. We are the ones who are responsible for protecting the liberty that is enshrined in our Constitution, so that it can be passed on to the next generation.”
Congressman Forbes earned the ACU Conservative Award due to his courageous and consistent commitment to core conservative principles. As his voting record demonstrates, Congressman Forbes has worked diligently to promote strong defense, to actively protect religious liberty through his position as Chairman and Founder of the Congressional Prayer Caucus and has been an outspoken advocate for free market enterprise and economic growth.
The ACU’s annual awards recognize Members of the House of Representative and the Senate whose voting records score within the top twenty percent on key issues, from wasteful government spending to national defense to free market enterprise. Important votes for the 112th Congress included welfare reform, defense spending, health care and domestic energy production. To read the complete report, click here.
