Repealing the President’s Health Care Law
Posted by Randy | July 12, 2012
Yesterday, I joined 243 of my colleagues in voting to repeal the President’s 2010 health care law, and demonstrating our resolve to undo what the Supreme Court decided by a 5-4 vote was a massive health care tax on the American people.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the President’s health care law will cost Americans 800,000 jobs, increasing costs for employers and leaving some small businesses with the choice between laying off employees or paying the penalty associated with failure to purchase health insurance.

This administration has watched for 41 straight months with over 8% unemployment and their policies have already delivered us a net loss of more than 473,000 jobs.

The House has now voted over 30 times to repeal all or parts of the health care law, reaffirming opposition to the health care law and underscoring the importance of electing officials who support individual freedoms and a more limited vision of government.

The House GOP has time and time again wasted our time and money with an effort that you all 100% knew would be dead after leaving the House trying to repeal something that helps millions of Americans, like myself. The House GOP needs to change their attitudes and priorities and work with the rest of Congress and this President. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Thirty votes that accomplished absolutely nothing and it was reported today that the cost of this nonsense was 50 million dollars. This vote congressman also means that according to the CBO your repeal vote increases the deficit by 125 billion dollars. This is the height of irresponsibility sir given that only last year you voted to shove our great country into default, in spite of warnings by past and present Treasury secretaries, past and present chairmen of the Federal Reserve, the IMF, and virturally every credible economist, to include Nobel prize winning scholars. How can we possibly find credibility in your judgment sir given those facts? Where do you find intellectual support for that vote? Where do the tax payers go to get a refund of the 50 million dollars you and your caucus wasted here? This congress has had since September to act on the president's jobs bill and we cannot even get a vote in the House. I ask you sir, directly, did you, and when did you, approach the republican leadership and urge a vote on that bill? I watched the debate before the repeal vote and not one republican offered up a comprehensive alternative to the historic health reform legislation you have acted over 30 times to thwart. We cannot continue to harm this country with efforts like the repeal action. This bill is already saving countless lives, it controls costs, many insurance companies have already acted to comply with the bill and it is totally unacceptable to recreate the donut hole, force students from their parents policies and hand the insurance companies vicious discriminatory authority that will kill your own constituents. I know people in the health insurance industry and this law is a winner for them and it will create many new jobs as millions of Americans finally can rest with the reassurance of affordable care. I believe congressman that you are far out on the extreme serving under blackmail of Grover Norquist and not acting in the interests of the country at large.

Did you specify what you wanted to repeal from the ACA and offer alternatives? I didn't think so. We lost 800K jobs a month during the final months of GW Bush's term. I think that our economy can handle loosing 800K health insurance jobs over the next 120 months.

Perhaps you are not sure how bills become laws. The vote passed the house. The vote passed the senate. And now the Supreme court has deemed the potential law "Consitutional". Like income taxes, the ACA has become the law of the land. What I wish, is that you and your ilk would stop trying to move this country back in time because you didn't get what you wanted, and begin to govern. 30 votes to repeal an existing law, at what fiscal cost? Meanwhile the country crumbles while you waste taxpayers money. The sickening thing is that YOU have government sponsored healthcare. And, I believe you are distorting your facts when it comes to the CBO. The house GOP needs to work with the current administration, as well as the senate to be about the citizens' business. If you wont work for us, by God we will find someone who will.

To Leslie: I totally agree with your statement. I believe the only way we may get cooperation is if the voters take control of the situation and aggressively expose these obstructionists who are so extreme I believe they have lost a claim to the word patriot. It saddens me that this is where the right in this country has gone. I hope all voters will continue to speak out until all this nonsense ends.

Thank you Congressman Forbes. We really need to undo the harm he's caused. Obama is the most dangerous individual to this country at the present time. Sorry, but I don't believe he should have been allowed to stay in office as I don't, to this day, believe he is an Naturalized American citizen. I support any effort that will bring back work to all the people without jobs because of his poor decisions. And, I thank you for taking the stand you have. I read many comments above (they all sound very liberal to me) and most of it I totally disagree with. The day Obama signed the dreaded health care law, our unemployment jumped to higher that I remember ever seeing before. This healthcare law will destroy us. And, the gentleman/lady (since I only saw initials) commenting on how it became law. He seems to totally forget all the bribes and threats made by Obama to get what he wanted from a totally democratic house and senate. That's why one party should never, ever control the presidency, the House and the Senate. I don't trust Obama! To: Ryan, Thomas, AG and Leslie: Get real folks. You misread something. It's not just insurance companies that would lose employees. In fact, the 800,000 figure is about the companies who will have to lay off employees in order to deal with Obamacare. I find all of you rather pretentious in the way you are speaking about the congressman. If you put Obama in office, then you need to really look at the harm he has done to this country. Look at the deficit. GW Bush did not create the stimulus' that failed. And his jobs bill is just smoke. It will do nothing for the people of this country. Ya'll really, really look at his record. Offshore drilling: stopped and as a result many jobs were lost. Families, babies and all are living in the streets, thanks to Obama. This man must be voted out of office. The sooner the better. In my opinion, he should have never been allowed to take office. All of his shady dealings, his snubbing of one of our best allies, bowing to another king. He's a total embarrassment. What do you liberals really want? Do you want to have this country become communistic or socialistic? Because that's what he is trying to do. Do you really believe that he sat in that church all those years and listened to that racist preacher and isn't racist himself? Get real. He calls himself African American as if 50% of him isn't white. He can't run a clean campaign! He resorts to attacking personal business of his opponent right down to acting as though since his opponent has money, he's out of touch. Well, Obama has money too, but I wonder how he really got it. I still believe he was totally tied into Acorn. Not one doubt in my mind. I see some of the stuff he's done and all I see are lies, secrets and personal assignation of his opponent. Ya'll need to look at more than just the #'s he puts out, because I don't trust him. And Obamacare must go! There is not one doubt in my mind that it will destroy this country even more than he has alreadydone!
