Ending Taxpayer-Funded Health Care Subsidies for Illegal Aliens
Posted by Randy | June 09, 2011
As of 2009, there were 10.8 million unlawful aliens in the United States according to estimates from the Department of Homeland Security. These illegal aliens cost taxpayers billions of dollars and take jobs away from hard-working Americans.

Under the President’s health care law, individuals applying to receive health care subsidies are only required to provide a Social Security number, their name and date of birth. As a result, illegal aliens are given an easy opportunity to circumvent the law that denies subsidized health care to illegal aliens.

I am co-sponsoring the No Health Care Subsidies for Illegal Aliens Act. This bill would require those applying for health care subsidies to submit a sworn statement attesting to their legal status as well as provide satisfactory documentation that proves they are either a U.S. citizen or that they entered the country legally.

Weigh in with your thoughts on how we should ensure that illegal aliens do not receive health care subsidies.

"Illegal" anything should not be supported by our government. Benefits should be for "legal" citizens. Perhaps if the U.S. used more discrepancy in its spending, including, including not providing benefits to those who are not legal residents, it could be a way to help cut down on the national debt. It would also serve as a deterrent to those who come for "free" benefits. The U.S. should consider not funding benefits for individuals here illegally BEFORE considering cutting benefits to older people who have worked for them and who have been promised those benefits by the government throughout their working lives.

Where in the Constitution does our government get the right to seize money from U.S. citizens and just give it away to foreigners, for any reason?

This is another ribbon around the old oak tree of debt creating red tape. As a natural born citizen of this country, with family roots going back to a relative who fought with General Washington at Valley Forge, I find a policy like this offensive.

Why is it that every government-run program is so very abused and could be run better by 1st graders? The fact that illegals receive benefits from our government is so stupid that it makes Americans look like fools! If the idiots in Washington feel so compelled to provide for illegals, let them donate funds from their huge paychecks.

Good for you! Suggestion: The number of illegal aliens is not really comprehensible to most people (at least not to me!). Perhaps this will help make it real: There are a little over 300,000,000 Americans and a little over 10,000,000 illegal aliens here. That means that 1 in every 30 people is here illegally. Look around. In one classroom, one student is illegal. How many people are in your workplace? At that ratio, how many would be here illegally. Also, it would be useful to compare the number of Americans who are unemployed with the number of illegals who are employed. These kinds of numbers help make it real to people.

As a nurse I have managed many home health cases in which the recipient was an illegal alien or legal alien without citizenship status. The United States is giving away medical care and supportive care (food stamps, emergency funds for medications, housing, etc.) to this population when there are life-long citizens of these United States that cannot gain access to these same benefits. It is disgraceful that our own citizens are not assisted in their time of need and non-citizen populations are given every benefit. Our benefits, our jobs, indeed our futures, are being handed over on silver platters to a population of non-citizen residents. The healthcare, food, shelter, and other benefits we are giving to this population keeps them strong and healthy while the citizens of this country are often times in poor health and in need of services that are not available because they are being utilized by this non-citizen contingency. These benefits are earned; paid for by citizen's taxes. If a non-citizen individual would like to add tax dollars to the coffers of our social service programs, wonderful, share a few benefits they have earned. If they are not paying into the programs they do not deserve the benefits. Congressman Forbes, please put an end to the disparity of services for the citizens of the United States. Either stop the funding and support of non-citizen individuals or collect taxes from these individuals. Either way, you will help save America's future!

If we are really serious about fixing the problems associated with illegals, try this: Illegal anything should not be funded. English as a second language should not be funded in any of our schools. Translators in our court rooms should not be funded. Anyone detained by our authorities for any reason that cannot speak english should be required to provide proof of citizenship/visas or immediately processed for deportation. Anchor babies should be treated as illegal aliens and processed with their mothers for immediate deportation and reimbursement for all medical/transportation costs should be demanded from their country of origin. If the country refuses to pay, deduct the amount from their annual handout that we provide them. Anyone requesting a drivers license must provide proof of US citizenship and must be able to read, write, understand and speak english without the aid of a personal translator. Anyone receiving welfare, wick, snap or any other social handouts must provide proof of US Citizenship. Implement these policies and watch the 10 million + illegals go home. Unfortunately, we need leaders in washington less concerned about offending anyone and more concerned about why they are their in the first place.

Benefits should only be for legal citizens.
